I am a huge resale store fan! I thought I would start sharing my best finds each week with you. See how you can find something great for very little!
This week I tried a new shop. This one was a consignment shop.
What is a Consignment Shop?
“Consignment is the act of consigning, which is placing a person or thing in the hand of another, but retaining ownership until the goods are sold or person is transferred.” Consignment Shops sell items for others. These shops can be higher priced than other thrift stores. This is because a percentage of the price is for the shop and a percentage is for the item’s owner. I have taken lots of the kids clothes to consgnment shops. Usually they will do 40 / 60 splits. That means you get 40% and the shop gets 60%. Occasionally you will find one with a higher owner payout. But considering they are selling it for ME , I am ok with the 40 % profit. It makes me a little extra cash while cleaning out the closets.
So that is why I love Consignment shops. If I have a few extra dollars I like to check them out. Even though they are more than thrift stores they are still less than resale. And MANY times you will find items still with the tags on them.
Oh YES! It is Vera Bradley Blue Rhapsody that retails online for $65! I got this baby NEW WITH TAGS for $5.50!
I was shocked and THRILLED! So this just proves you never know unless you look. And you might have to look hard but it is definitely worth it when you find something you love at more than 90% OFF!
