Dark Mode Off / On

Gas prices are rising again. It seemed like we were all seeing a drop and then it stopped. This is making it hard for all the families who like to enjoy a road trip during the summer. So as I do every so often, I did a cheap gas audit in my area. How did everyone match up? I will tell you below.

But first, I want to tell you about new phone app, WAZE. I just learned about it last week and heard it could help me save time and money. Since those are 2 things I love to save I had to check it out. I discovered it on my Android Market and within about 3 minutes it had downloaded and installed. I then went exploring to see what it was all about.

Waze is a social mobile application that enables drivers to build and use real-time road intelligence. The service includes constantly-updated road maps, alerts on traffic and accidents, and data providing users with the fastest route to get to wherever they need to go.

Map and traffic updates are automatically collected and generated as users drive with waze activated, but drivers can also actively report and update other users with what’s happening on the road including accident alerts, police traps, weather hazards, cheap gas offers and more. And the best part? Because the map and all of its content is driver-generated, waze is completely free for users.

Waze is really neat because it helps in a lot of ways. It helps you identify possible traffic issues including road blocks and accidents. You can also determine your quickest route. This is fabulous for road trips or even for just trips through town. You can see a guided tour here. I have to say the feature on Maze that surprised me the most was that you could find “police traps.” I have never seen that on an app before. All of these features are included in this App and best of all they are FREE!

Here is a quick look at my trip. We were headed out on a small trip. Very small. We were heading across town, but that was still a 1 hour drive. Since we were not familiar with the destination the timing was perfect. Check out who has the best gas price and how Waze helped me here via my Intersect Story.

You can see that most of the gas stations are fairly close in price. However since Murphy Usa and Walmart are participating in the Gas Rollback I save an extra $.10 per gallon using my Walmart Gift Card! That makes a huge difference. That $.10 makes it much cheaper than the competitors!

How are the gas prices in your area. Higher? Lower?

Have you used Waze? Do you think you may try it now?
