Dark Mode Off / On

How long has it been since you and your “other half” were on a date? Seems like everyone is cutting back their spending and trying to save more. But it is so important that we continue some things like spending quality time with our significant other. Not only do we deserve it, we NEED it! Each week Living on Love and Cents, The Juici Life and Cornerstone Confessions are bringing you Ways to date on a budget. Go here to see the previous posts.

Grab an inexpensive bottle of wine or some beer, or your favorite sodas  and spend the night in. But ditch sitting in front of the tube or staring at each other. Play a game! Put on some light music, turn off the TV, turn off the cell phones, and spend some quality time together while giving your wallet a break.

Play 20 Questions! Whether you’ve been together for four weeks or four years, there are probably things you don’t know or remember about each other, and as always, things change. Make sure each of you should write down 20 questions to ask the other — and try to make sure they are open-ended so you don’t get redundant one-word answers. If
you’re having trouble thinking of questions, I like to look up “would you rather” questions or hey! just look up 20 Questions to get your creative juices flowing. Take turns answering the questions and get to know each other a little better than you already do. Most importantly, just have fun with it.

Board Games Spice up all those boring, old board games you have hiding in your closet. Poker isn’t the only game that can have a strip version. Try playing Scrabble, BS, or Monopoly. Up the anty with prizes for the winner, maybe you’d like a  massage or breakfast in bed. Get creative and have fun being competitive!

Secret Messages Maybe you couldn’t resist watching that movie and ordering in. Spice up the last bit of the evening with a free, fun twist. Write messages with your fingers on your partner’s skin, such as their back. Have a specific prize in mind and be sure to let  your partner know what is at stake. You can use your fingertips to write something like “I love you” to something a little bit more suggestive. Go slowly one letter at a time, having your partner guess. If you have to repeat a letter more than once they lose. Collect your prize and continue taking turns.

Sexy Scrabble Bust out that old Scrabble board and make your own rules. Play with the usual rules while adding something a little out of the ordinary. Choose a romantic theme to make it a little bit more challenging. Allow only sweet, sensual, or sexy words. Or for an easier version, allow bonus points for using words in the categories you choose and play as usual. For even more added fun, each of you pick a prize before starting and the winner gets their special reward when the game is over.

The important thing to remember is that spending time with one another can be fun no matter what you’re doing as long as you have the right attitude. Games at home are a great way to stay while still enjoying some quality alone time, just try and refrain from wearing sweatpants.

Couples that play together, stay together!

This week’s Dating on a Dime is brought to you by A typical (weird) 20-something girl. I spend too much time smothering my dogs with love and making lists – namely my bucket list. Afraid of the dark. Completely random.Visit her at The Juici Life.

  1. My wife and I actually heated up our 8 year old marriage by playing strip Uno. It really was hard for me to keep from cheating, but I didn’t, and I won!
