Dark Mode Off / On

As you may know I am doing a kitchen makeover on a budget! So far I have done the counter tops , cabinets, backsplash and more is on the way! This week I wanted a simple and quick project that would add some character and color to the kitchen. Since I love rustic signs that is what I wanted to do. I have seen them for sale for $75 EACH and up and that is WAY above my budget. I wanted to see what could do for about $20?

I have been hearing about the Elmer’s Paint Pens . So I decided to take a trip to Walmart and grab some for this simple diy project. Check out my path to purchase on Google+. You will be shocked with all the options. While my Walmart only carried the Painters Pens in sets of 5, many Walmart stores  are already carrying the Elmer’s Painter Singles! I was told ours would be in stock very soon!

Once back at home we set up the supplies outside and got started! . All you need is: old wood, boards, canvas, etc.I used a pallet I had on hand. If you are doing this be sure to remove all nails and sand if necessary.

I wanted a little white on my boards so I pulled out the white spray paint and covered the boards very lightly.

Then you need Painter’s off your choice. With the new Singles this is super easy! There are dozens of colors to choose from.

Now time draw. You can write free hand or do like I did. I pulled stencils out from past crafts to help me. I hate using standard paint and those stencil brushes for these kinds of projects because the paint gets everywhere! But not with Painters Pens! The medium tip is perfect for filling in and keeping the paint right where you want it.

That is it! Seriously! It was so easy! I mean it when I say anyone can do this! I am excited with how it turned out. I am waiting for my husband to pull out the saw and cut these to size for above the cabinets.

What is next on your diy list? Do you have a fabulous Glue N Glitter idea? Now is the time! Grab some of these affordable Painter Pens to make your project a breeze!

  1. Awesome post my friend and those signs look great! Glad the Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers worked out for you!

  2. Looks like you and your family had a lot of fun with this project! I love how easy the Elmer’s Painters are to work with. I might just have to steal your idea when I spruce up my laundry room! I have wanted some fun signs, but don’t want to pay for anything too expensive.
