Dark Mode Off / On

Earlier this month I told you that our family is participating in the Making the Switch Challenge. Please read the post explaining Jennie-O Champions For Kids partnership to help people make the switch for the good.  Also you can see my Jennie-O shopping experience on Google Plus.

My children and I each gave up something: juice packs, chips and McDonalds breakfasts. We have maintained this switch throughout the month on May. In this time we have been able to deliver more packages of Jennie-O healthy foods to families in need. Giving these packages has been an amazing and rewarding experience for us all. I choose to maintain the privacy of the families we helped. You can be sure that each of the families was overwhelmed. We were able to supply one family each week with a healthy meal package from Walmart with the money that we saved. This SIMPLE Service Project was one that was unforgettable!

Since we have joined the Champions For Kids project we have also started enjoying turkey over red meat. I did not tell my family that I was switching the meat I was using. I wanted to see if they would notice, They did! They raved that the meals were better! My son and I have enjoyed many gluten free lunches with the turkey franks. I used the sausage for breakfast meals. I also made many mouth watering dinners using the turkey and gravy and ground turkey.

My favorite meal is a Ground Turkey Crock Pot Taco Soup. This meal is incredibly easy! Your family will LOVE IT!

Ingredients:

  • 1  can pinto beans
  • 1 can kidney beans or other beans (black eyed peas are good too)
  • 1 o2 2 cans  corn
  • 1 can rotel tomatoes
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning
  • 1 pound ground turkey

Directions:

  1. Brown meat and drain
  2. Combine all ingredients in crock pot (any order) Do not drain cans (You need the juices)
  3. Cook on low 6 hours or high 3 hours
  4. Enjoy!

You can serve with chips, cheese, onions, etc.
