We are swimming in moving boxes. But we are HOME! Yes our real, Texas home! I am so excited to celebrate the holidays with our family here at home. All the boxes got me thinking. How can I reuse them? We have so many! How about a DIY Mantel using moving boxes? It could work. Right? Take a look!
I used 7 small moving boxes from Lowe’s.
Regular school glue
Stack 3 boxes and tape well with duck tape. Do this twice for your two sides.
I turned the 2 sides upside down so that the top is on the ground. This made it easier to attach the connecting box or the top of the mantel. Turn it long ways and tape to both sides very well.
Take construction paper and create imperfect bricks. This is perfect for kids!
Line up brown or black construction paper on the front side of the mantel. Glue. (We used Elmer’s glue)
Then we placed the bricks on the black. This was fun for my little one. He created patterns and it was like a puzzle. We used stick glue for the bricks.
Let dry and flip over.
Decorate the top. I suggest wrapping paper or construction paper to cover the boxes.
Add your stockings. This is perfect for people like us, that do not have a fireplace mantel!
