WOW! 36!

Well, hello there 36! Hello there 36

I gotta be honest, I have dreaded turning 36. Why is that? What is so big about 36? For some reason I feel like this is a crazy turning point in my life. I am not alone. They pointed it out in my new favorite show– This is Us. In the first episode they were all dealing with turning 36 and in the after show they talked about how 36 was a crazy turning point in our lives. And it is!

It is a time to take time to reflect on my life. Dr Seuss Quote Birthday

I have said to my friends and family, it is like a curve in the road. I was in my early 30s all this time, 35 was like a stop sign, and now I have turned the corner and I am flying toward 40! It is like a deer in the headlights staring at me! And I feel like my foot is on the petal all the way down to the floorboard. Time is speeding up!

I am not scared of getting older, but I feel like for the first time ever it is happening! I am getting older! Where did the time go? Birthday Quotes

On this day, my 36th birthday, I am taking time to reflect. What will this year hold for me? How can I make it the best ever? What do I keep and what do I change? So I made a list.

#1 My health- I have to put it on the front burner and make it a priority. You’ve probably heard the saying you can’t give to others when you are running on empty. Or the saying that you have to fill your own cup first before you can give anything to others. I need to fill my cup. I need to get healthy. Inside and out. This year I will get serious about my weight again. This will be the year I get healthy!

#2 My family- I have to make precious moments for this family. I am not the only one getting older. The kids grow a little more every day. My baby is 7! Not sure how that happened but it did! My husband and I have been married for 14 amazing years! I want to treasure the moments this year! I want to make new and fabulous memories!

#3 My faith- I have got to make God and my church family a priority. God has to come first and he has to guide my every step! I want to share my faith even more with those around me.

#4 My work- It feel weird putting this almost last, but it has to be. My problem is that I love my work. I know that sounds awesome. We should love what we do….But it has to have its place in my life.

#5 Take more photos. I HATE to be photographed since I have gained so much weight. But, someone took this photo of me at Christmas and it got me thinking. The first thing I see is how overweigh I am! The second thing I see is I am so happy! Santa gave me the most awesome up side down umbrella. I see so much happiness in my face! That is what I want to capture in the year ahead. Happiness! Stop hiding because I hate the way I look. That goes back to #1 and I can work on that. But I also need to embrace my body whatever it looks like and capture those precious moments.birthday

SO that is it. My list.

I can’t wait to start this year being 36 and seeing what amazing things are in store! I can’t wait to see God’s plan for 36. Life is so precious and I am excited to have another year! Even if it is on the road to 40. LOL god-gave-us-life

What year was the hardest for you? Any advice for me as I turn 36?

  1. I love this list! Happy 36! Turning 40 was my moment that was tough, but now that I am at 43, I am welcoming each birthday! Grandma is 96 and reminds me weekly that age is just a number! and I love the pictures of you that you are sharing! Happy birthday Friend!
