Together with Reliant, the Houston Zoo connects communities with animals, inspiring action to save wildlife while creating lasting memories.
What child doesn’t love animals and LEGO® bricks? The Houston Zoo has an exciting new exhibit for the summer – Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks! You’ll be able to see 12 of your favorite animals unlike ever before, built with more than 770,000 LEGO bricks! These unique art sculptures will be on display starting May 27 through September 4.
The Houston Zoo recently announced a massive expansion to the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat, which will double the entire elephant complex. The zoo’s male elephants have already moved into their new 6,500 square-foot custom barn, and a brand-new habitat is also under construction, which will feature a boardwalk with an unobstructed view of the elephants’ nearly 160,000-gallon pool.
Reliant and the Houston Zoo have joined forces on other projects in recent years, including Free First Tuesdays and the conversion of 30 electric carts to emission-free solar-powered carts. Reliant employees are passionate about saving wildlife and have often volunteered at the zoo to help maintain and preserve different animal exhibitions.
Recognized for a ninth consecutive year of record attendance, the Houston Zoo attracted 2.55 million visitors in 2016.
