Breckenridge: The Forever Beautiful Ski Resort of Colorado

It is a truth universally acknowledged by travellers that where you end up going usually depends on the kind of people going on a trip. But then there are places that have something for everyone, be it long, meandering trails that you can explore with your beloved or snow-encased peaks that your kids can sledge down. Be it romance or adventure or both, these places have a little bit of everything. And Breckenridge in Colorado is one such place.

From summer to winter, Breckenridge has something beautiful to offer all through the year. It was originally a mining town but has now gone on to become one of the most majestic and popular ski resorts in Colorado. Located in Summit country, Breckenridge combines the best of all the worlds, from romantic getaways to adrenalin rush-inducing adventure, and offers it all through the chilly winter months and orange-hued autumns to the green, green summertime. And getting to be a part of it all is as easy as packing your bags, booking one of the cabins in Breckenridge and heading over to this mesmerizing destination for a beautiful vacation.

The Destination

The five peaks at Breckenridge are part of the Rocky mountains and provides a gorgeous 2900 acres worth of skiing space. At Breckenridge, it doesn’t matter whether you are an expert at skiing or not. Whether you are just beginning to ski or have a child who wants to join, the Breckenridge experience makes sure to provide for everyone.  You can try things ranging from cross country to downhill slope skiing. But that’s not all.

Breckenridge also has a very colourful history that all the interested travellers can explore. The Edwin Carter Museum which dates back to 1875 and is probably the oldest museum in Colorado is located here. Its collection will offer you a vivid insight into the mining history of the town. But, if you are one of the even more enthusiastic travellers, then hire a jeep and take a tour of the old ghost towns in the area. These eerily quite cluster of houses and towns were the ones that could not keep up with the mines being shut down and were all abandoned at one point. Perhaps of all the things Breckenridge has to offer, its history is what makes it unique and intriguing.

What is more? That is still not all Breckenridge has to offer its travellers. The place has a vibrant culture of its own, both artistic and musical. The nightlife has a lot to offer too,  and each season of each year has colourful events and festivities going on. And if you are a food enthusiast as well as an adventure lover, Breckenridge will not leave you hanging either. The restaurants here have delight after culinary delight to offer its ravenous tourists. Pack yourself a lunch and spend time biking through the exquisite trails or laze around at the Gold Medal fly-fishing waters.

The ever-changing beauty of Breckenridge

If you are still having trouble deciding, though, here’s some of what Breckenridge has to offer you through the seasons:

  • Summers in Breckenridge

We know what you are thinking. Why would anyone want to visit a ski resort during the golden summer months? Well, that is a good question and Breckenridge’s emerald and gold slopes and hiking trails are the answer. As anyone who has been here during the summer months will tell you, this is not something you should be missing. Summers at Breckenridge are ones to behold and not just because of the hundreds of trails that you can explore on foot, two-wheelers, cars or on horseback. Suddenly, the slopes that you thought could not get prettier just did get prettier. And you are handed a very long list of exciting things that you can never fit into one trip.

Breckenridge summers might lack the skiing part of the trip but has vibrant cultural programs, concerts and competitions to offer instead. So, when you take a break from expertly hiking down those twisting trails, you can just slow down and enjoy the music and the food.

And there are a lot of other activities you can choose from too. Spend your day fishing at the river or go river rafting. SUP yoga and kayaking are also options during summers. Or get your adrenaline pumping again with the zip line courses available at the resorts Epic Discovery. Whether you want the lazy solitude of a day spent golfing or one of zipping and rushing through trails and rivers, a Breckenridge summer has it all.

  • Autumn in Breckenridge

While summers are gushingly beautiful at Breckenridge, autumn has often been termed the most beautiful season here. And why wouldn’t it be? It combines the best of summer, with almost all its activities, with the sunset-hued lush foliage that you can spend all your days gazing at. You can while your day away as you watch the leaves fall slowly down. Or you can go biking and fishing and hiking. Or you can simply enjoy the very vibrant fall cultural scene with the Wine Classic, Oktoberfest and the Spirits Festival.

The golden orange leaves from the Aspen trees have inspired photographers from all over the world and it just might end up intriguing you too as you go rock climbing or horseback riding. Here, you will not have a moment of boredom because it has something to suit each of your moods.

  • Winter in Breckenridge

What can one say about the snowy peaks of the ski resort? As winter sets in, it becomes a playground of the gods themselves, if gods were interested in skiing and sledging that is. Go skiing or snowboarding at the Breckenridge Ski resort. Rediscover your love for sledging or teach your kids. Even if you are a beginner or have intermediate experience, Breckenridge has you covered.

Take the Imperial Express, which is the highest chairlift in North America, to soar up to the alpine heights and take in views that will leave an indelible mark on your heart. And if you are in need of terrain parks, Breckenridge has four to offer and each of them varies in difficulty.

And if none of that could convince you, it is time you pack your bags and let Breckenridge do the convincing. Rest assured, though. The crisp solitude of these peaks will make a poet out of you after all.
