Dark Mode Off / On

The idea of falling in love with yourself used to sound so conceited, even narcissistic, right? Fortunately, this idea that it’s selfish to care or think about yourself is slowly being thrown out the window. More and more, society is accepting mental health, recognizing it, and even recognizing the fact that self-care is important. If people are wanting to ever be healthy, then they need to think about themselves and take care of themselves, right? Taking care of yourself is important, but have you ever thought about falling in love with yourself? These are 5 tips for falling in love with yourself.

No, not like that Narcissus Greek mythology. But taking more time to think about yourself, think about what’s best for you, understand your worth,  and recognize what’s good for you. These are some helpful tips for achieving just that!

Think of positivity

You need to give yourself some positive affirmation every single day. This will eventually grow into something better and better. Sure, giving yourself positive affirmation at first can feel a tad awkward but eventually, the more you do it, the more you’ll believe it.

Challenge negativity

Did you know that negativity can only get worse if you allow it to grow? Everyone has that voice in the back of their head that tells them they’re not enough. Everyone has it, but it’s up to you to decide if you’re going to let that voice be heard or not. If you challenge these negative thoughts or even just blatantly ignore them, they’ll go away. Above, it was mentioned that if you practice positive affirmation every day, it will eventually grow. The same is said for negativity as well. If you want to shut it out, then you cannot let it grow, and to do that, you need to challenge and ignore it.

Do what makes you happy

So what exactly puts you in a good mood? You should try to do one thing (at the very least) each day that you know will make you happy. This could be going onto a phone chat line, it could be playing video games, reading a book, watching a show, eating your favorite food, buying something for yourself. Honestly, the options are endless. So think about what you’re wanting and what makes you happy.

Look at your environment

Is there something about the environment that you’re in that’s affecting how you feel about yourself or how you feel every day? Maybe it’s best to assess the environment you’re in such as whether or not you’re in your ideal home.  Sometimes just taking a look at your environment and looking into the changes that can be made can truly make a massive difference. It could be as simple as redecorating your home but it could be as big as moving into a whole new environment.

Get out of your comfort zone

Sure, the idea of getting out of your comfort zone may sound very scary, right? But getting the courage to step out of it can lead to a whole world of exciting possibilities.  Try something fun and new such as painting lessons, paragliding, or even try going on vacation to another country.
