This DIY is so easy and so much fun! It is a great way to add some personal decor to your home. You can use these DIY decorative balls as garland, in a decorative bowl, wall decor, or any centerpiece. You can be creative with these on the colors and shapes and size. I’ve seen similar rattan wicker decor balls at the home decor stores and they can get pricy, so we made DIY decorative balls using glue and yarn. You only need a few supplies and some time. For less than $5 you can have beautiful decor.
Kids love this craft because it is messy and involves balloons! Here is the simple craft tutorial for decorative yarn balls.

How To Make DIY Decorative Balls
Supplies:
- Small Balloons (I used water balloons)
- Yarn (I bought the inexpensive yarn from Walmart)
- Elmers Glue
- Water
- Wax Paper
- Containers for dipping
Set up:
- Blow up balloons
- Mix glue and water in dipping containers. 1 part water and 2 parts glue ratio. Mix well!
- Cut the yarn (This will depend on how big your balloons are and how much yarn you want to cover your ball. I suggest taking the dry yarn and wrapping it around the balloon to determine the length that you want. Use it as a guide to set the length of all pieces.)

Instructions:
Take your desired amount of yarn for one balloon.
Dip it in the glue mixture until soaked. It must be soaked in the mixture to work.
Tie one end of the yarn to the knot of the balloon to keep it from slipping.
In random directions, wrap your balloon.
Set out on paper. We used parchment paper.
Allow your balloon to sit overnight or until dry and stiff.

Pop the balloon. Carefully remove it through the yarn holes. This was fun for the kid

Get creative and try different shapes, sizes and colors. Change them out for the season too.
