Dark Mode Off / On

Many women find that once they have children it is a real struggle to maintain a career. They feel like they can either have one or the other or end up overworked trying to juggle the two. While it is more difficult than before, there is a way that you can work and bring in some money as well as have children and one of those ways is with a side hustle. A side hustle is a great way to bring in some extra money while also being able to tailor it to your own hours. It could be something you do once the kids are in bed, when they are at nursery or before they wake up in the morning. It’s also something you can choose to take more of if you need it, or drop your hours should you find that you need to focus on your family. If you are looking to get a side hustle, here are some top tips to ensure it succeeds.

Think of something you love to do

The easiest way to make money from a side hustle is to do it in something you love. This means you should already know and have an interest in how the industry or process works. It could be that you love to take photos in your spare time, so why not turn to a photography freelancer? Or if you love to write, why not start up your own blog? This could be on fashion, DIY, beauty or something else you love.

Decide how you will sell your services

When you are doing your side hustle, consider the best way for you to sell your product or service. Will you use Etsy or eBay to expand online sales? Will you have your own website? Will you perhaps focus on your social media channels? Whichever you choose, find the one that you think will have the most success and reach your target audience. Don’t be afraid to try more than one method and to switch it up depending on what is working best.

Come up with competitive pricing

When you are running a side hustle you need to ensure you are pricing what you are doing fairly. You don’t want to find that you are overpriced in a saturated market and therefore not receiving any orders, but you also want to ensure you aren’t underselling yourself. Do some research and see what other competitors are pricing themselves at. You might want to start a bit lower at the beginning while you establish yourself, but once you have done so, it’s a good idea to raise your prices, particularly if you become very busy.

These are just a few top tips for having a side hustle that should help ensure it’s as successful as possible. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it and if you wish to grow your hustle, try to come up with a marketing strategy to help you do so. Do you have a side hustle alongside a family?
