If you have a garden, you’re lucky. This is your own, private outdoor space that you can spend time in and use however you please. As we approach the summer months, you’re probably going to want to make the most of the space. Spending time out in the nice weather and perhaps even entertaining family and friends with a BBQ or garden party. Of course, this requires some work. A garden is a natural space and you’re going to have to maintain it to make sure that it is presentable and usable. For many of us, this is a challenge, especially if we’ve let our garden get out of hand throughout the winter and spring months. You may face a whole host of work and challenges when it comes to getting it back up to scratch. But it will prove more than worth it in the end! Here are some suggestions that can help to guide you in the right direction!

Lawn Maintenance

Mowing the lawn is one of the first steps that any of us take when it comes to getting on top of the garden. Take some time to scour your lawn before doing anything. You’ll want to pick up any larger pieces of debris or rocks that may be tucked away in long grass. Keep an eye out for childrens or pets toys that may be nestled in the long grass too. Use a quality lawn mower and take your time. Mow in straight lines and make sure that you get every area of your lawn. Once you’re done, you’ll then need to use a strimmer to get the edges.

Flowers

Most people want some sort of flowers in their outdoor space. They’re beautiful. They’re bright. They can attract wildlife like butterflies and bees. Take some time to consider what type of flowers you might want. Flower beds. Hanging baskets. Climbing plants. The list of options goes on. If you’re finding difficult in getting started yourself, you may want to use a specialist in landscape design for recommendations and assistance.

Weeds

Most gardens experience weeds popping up all over the place. This is a challenge that the vast majority of us face. When it comes down to it, reducing the amount of weeds in your garden and keeping it that way is going to prove an ongoing challenge that requires commitment and dedication to overcome. The key to successful weed removal is to make sure that you remove or destroy the root. Simply snapping off the tops or mowing down the top of the weed isn’t going to do much. Instead, remove the root and your problem will be gone. If you’re going to use weed killer, make sure that you use an option that is pet friendly if you have pets. Also keep children away from any weed killer formulas.

The above advice will prove pretty straight forward when you implement it, but it will produce brilliant results that will give you a garden to be proud of.
