Some days you feel like you can wake up and take on the world; others you feel like nothing is going your way and even getting out of bed is a struggle you aren’t sure you will win.

We all struggle from time to time, and life can seem impossible to get through when we do. There is no shame in having a tough time, but it is always best to try and do something positive to help you get through your struggles if you can because dwelling on them usually just makes matters worse.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few things that might help you cope and make it through the day next time you are struggling:

Take a self-care day

If things are really hard, there is nothing wrong with taking a day off just to focus on yourself. Cook yourself a nice breakfast, have a hot bath, do your nails, read a good book, and just focus on the things that make you the happiest. You deserve it.

Talk to a therapist

Sometimes, having someone to talk to is the best way to understand and get out of your struggles. These days, companies like REACH Behavioral Health offer virtual therapy, so it has never been easier to talk to someone when you’re having a tough time and struggling to cope.

Try something new

Trying s new hobby or skill is a great way to overcome your struggle because, not only does it give you something positive to focus on, but when you master a new skill, it can be a great boost to your self-confidence too.

Switch off your phone

Technology can often be a lifeline keeping us in touch with our loved ones and the outside world, but if you find that tech only makes things worse for you; perhaps you feel envious of your friends who are having a better time than you, then turning the tech off and doing something else, like reading a good book or going for a long walk, instead can be more beneficial for your mental health.

Do a little exercise

It is often the last thing you want to do when you are struggling, but if you can get up and move around a little, chances are it will help. Exercise is great at pumping endorphins around the body which boosts the mood, and if you can exercise out in nature, its natural stress-relieving properties will give you even more of a boost.

Meditate

Learning to meditate is one of the best things you can do if you are struggling. It will help you to find more space from your negative thoughts and it’s a great way to self-soothe too.

As you can see, there are lots of things you can try to help you through your struggles, and although they may seem simple. Many of them can be quite effective, so what not, at least, give them a try? What do you have to lose?
