Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays since becoming a mom. I love to surprise them on the days up to Valentine’s Day with fun crafts, little treats and things they just don’t expect. This craft would be perfect for popping a little note into a lunch box or backpack. I haven’t figured out how to get a small candy to stick inside of them yet, but I’m working on it! I adapted this project from Martha Stewart for ease, I think doing it with the changes I made makes it a little simpler than the instructions on their website.
Valentine Day Craft :
Felt
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Pipe cleaners to match your felt
Pen and paper
It is just takes a few minutes to make these up and other than the hot glue, your kids can help to make them. You need to cut several 4 inch circles out of your color felt of choice.
Cut a pipe cleaner a little shorter than the width of your circle and hot glue it on. You will use a pipe cleaner that matches your felt, and not a brown one, but I used it here so you could see what I was doing a little better.
Tuck in your note.
Pinch the pipe cleaner in the middle and pull the ends together to make a fortune cookie shape, like so.
That’s all there is to this valentines day craft! A word of warning: they are so fun to make it gets a little addicting. I’m looking forward to sending some of these off in my husband’s lunch. These would be so cute for kids to pass out for their Valentine’s parties instead of those little paper cards. So cute and sweet. I just love working with felt and this is another great craft that uses felt in a fun way.
