I wanted to share some exciting news with you!  Since I last told you about the Let’s Go See program, Visionworks and Davis Vision kicked off 2017 continuing to raise awareness about the importance of annual eye exams for school-aged children by increasing the number of vouchers and glasses they will donate this school year from 10,000 to 15,000.

This is so exciting! Let me tell you more about why this is so important!

Between dental checkups, doctor’s exams, and everything else parents do to keep kids healthy, children’s vision often gets overlooked. Many parents wait until their child has expressed an issue with their vision before taking them for an eye exam, but according to Prevent Blindness America, 1 in 4 school-aged children in the United States has a vision problem, which if left untreated can affect learning ability, personality, and adjustments in school. 60% of children labeled as problem learners actually have an undetected vision problem? The Let's Go See program has been instrumental in our efforts to spread awareness of the need for annual eye exams for school-aged children.

Can you imagine how it must feel to be a child in class and not be able to see clearly? Check this out!

Seeing clearly is so important to me! I shared a few months back how I took my 10 year old in for a real exam and she needed glasses full time! We went to Visionworks and were able to pick out the perfect pair. Read all about it here. Now a few months have passed and it is time for a new pair. This time we have sports in mind. Did you know vision can affect how they play too? It is true and my daughter is a great example. Her glasses are too large to wear with her softball mask so she has to play without her glasses. And that shows in the way she plays. She is amazing with the glasses, but when she takes them off to wear her equipment you can see the change. She needs to be able to see! So we made another stop at Visionworks this month. This time with a smaller pair of lenses in mind. All kids should be able to see clearly! How fortunate we are to be able to get her new glasses. Every child should have this same opportunity to see clearly at ALL TIMES! That is why this campaign is so important!

Visionworks and Davis Vision have already donated more than 8,300 vouchers to children in need since the 2016-17 school year started, and now I want to encourage YOU to nominate a child, school or organization in need. Those interested in nominating can visit letsgosee.net to complete the nomination process. Vouchers are redeemable for a comprehensive eye exam as well as a pair of $69.95 children’s frames with polycarbonate lenses.

Let’s help them reach their goal of 15,000 free eye exams and pairs of glasses for children in need.

So tell me who can you nominate? Please nominate someone or an organization TODAY!
