This dollar tree Diy is so easy! And I have an extra gardening hack in here for you too! So read on!
I found these plastic buckets at the Dollar Tree. They are huge! I knew I could do something to spruce them up. So I got a few and got to thinking.
I’ve been wanting to plant some bee-friendly flowers between my garden planter boxes to encourage bees to come and hang out and then pollinate my vegetables. The Own Grown Bee Friendly Seeds are my favorite.
This big bucket was perfect.
But there was no way I was leaving it bright blue! I went for my spray paint stash and found a metallic silver and hammered finish brown. First I sprayed in the silver. After it was dry I lightly sprayed the hammered finish. I wanted imperfections so it was not solid but you could if you wanted. Be sure to drill a few holes for drainage as well.
Once dry it was time to fill it up. Here comes my hack!
Instead of using a full bag of soil I used a strainer from, you guessed it, the Dollar Tree! It was a large strainer that fit perfectly! Why? Because this will allow for drainage and allow you to use less soil in these huge planters! Score!
Next I filled in the soil half way. Then added my seeds. Then covered with soil.
Water just a tad and there you go! Time to watch the flowers bloom!
What do you think? What is your favorite planting hack?
