Ok dads it is almost that time! Time to stock up the kitchen and office for all the things you need when the kids are heading back to school. I am going to make it super easy for you with this dads guide to getting ready for back to school with a diy kid friendly pantry. This guide is so easy and inexpensive you can not go wrong!
1. Plan ahead
What do the kids need? Clothes? Backpacks?
What do they take for lunch? Make a list of what they will need the first couple weeks.
What do they enjoy for after school snacks?
What does mom need help with? Transportation? Registering the kids? Ask her!
2. Shop the sales
Now that you know what you need, you need to shop. I am not a fan of going from store to store. I like to go to one place and get everything I need. Randalls makes that super easy. Right now, Albertsons and banner stores (Safeway, Jewel, Tom Thumb, Randalls…etc) are celebrating their Anniversary with a HUGE sale (7/29-8/11). This makes stocking up on back to school lunch supplies and after school snacks super affordable. I shopped Randalls Huge Anniversary sale, but you can be sure to check out what great deals are available at Safeway, Jewel, Osco, or Albertsons too! I just safe to mention that the USDA Choice Boneless London Broil is only $2.49 a pound right now at Houston Randalls. Amazing! Right? I stocked up!
3. Create A Kid Friendly Pantry
After stocking up on your favorite drinks, snacks, morning foods, meat, and all the other essentials, you are ready to stock up the kitchen.
You know how crazy the school mornings can be. One person is looking for the cereal and another can not reach the oatmeal. After school, it is the same song, different tune. She can’t find a snack she likes, and he spilled Mom’s cereal while trying to find his fruit snacks. Well parents, I have a solution! Here is my super easy and super affordable DIY kid friendly pantry. All of the containers were purchased at the Dollar Store.
Step one- Take everything out. I mean everything. This will get messy! But it is necessary!
Step two- Throw out the old.
Step three- Divide into categories.
Step four- Make labels- Use pre-made labels, print out labels, or use post it notes. I used post it notes with clothes pins.
Step five- Fill the containers with your items by category.
Step six- Place the containers back in the pantry. Put the items that the kids need to reach at the bottom. Make the bottom few rows easily accessible and full of the items that they use the most. Fill the top shelves with your spices and things they do not need to reach at all.
I used containers with handles that could be easily moved out of the way to get to the ones in the back that have the plastic plates, straws, sandwich bags, etc. in them.
TAH-DAH!
As you can see I am all stocked up and ready for a great start to this school year. At least, as far as the kitchen goes. Randall’s is my go to grocer. Shop the HUGE Anniversary sale and stock up on your favorite brands 7/29-8/11. I’d love to hear how your family will stock up!
I would be one proud wife/mom if my husband organized our pantry that well, WOW! Your family is set for school. [client]
