Kids and Cellphones: The Right Way To Do It & The Best Wireless Plan #shop #cbias

image

Kids with cell phones, it’s a tricky thing. I will admit that I have been against kids having phone for years. Over the last few years, as cell phones have become more common, my husband an I have been certain that our children would not get a phone.  Then, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, our daughter started growing up and things changed. She is now in after school activities, staying with friends, going places with other families and away from us more than we expected her to be. I have started thinking about if she were to be in a dangerous situation or simply needs to reach me. What would she do?  I do not want my little girl to have to ask a stranger for help. I decided now is the time. I need to find the best wireless plan for her.

I have AT&T right now. For me and my husband to share 700 minutes, have unlimited text and a high data limit we spend over $200 a month! I shuddered to think what it would be to add another line. So I did a lot of research and discovered the Walmart Family Mobile Plan.

Have you heard of it? All this time I thought Walmart only had prepaid or limited plans. I was so wrong! They have unlimited plans and the cheapest wireless plan of any provider! Not only are they the cheapest, they also have no contracts or credit check!

I went shopping to find out more. I was still in shock to see the unlimited everything monthly plans under $40! This was an easy decision for us to make! Let me tell you why…

The price: The first line is $29 for unlimited talk and text + $10 if you want the web. That is the monthly price! There are no activation fees. You simply purchase the $25 activation card. For each additional line we add it is only $24.99 plus $10 for the web. The whole family can be covered at an affordable price!

The plans: You choose if you want talk and text only or talk, text and web! Either way it is all unlimited!

The control: You have access to the online account management and information which allows you to control web settings, hours of use, limits and much more! This is so important for a mom! I can control what her phone can and can not do!

So we did it! We got our little girl a phone! But she has rules and we have all the control! Thanks to the Family Mobile Plan and the affordable phones, we can stay in touch at an affordable price!

What did I buy and how did I get started? Check out this video:

I will update you in about a month after we receive the first bill. The most common questions I have received are:

  • “Is it REALLY unlimited minutes, text and data?”
  • “Is it REALLY that price?”
  • “Can your child really stay under your controls?”
  • “How does it compare to other networks?”

So I will let you know an prove it! Stay tuned for more on the #FamilyMobileSaves plan.

The Judgement of a Work at Home Mom

20130829-171100.jpg

I shared how I am working to find balance in being a work at home mom. When I was coming up with my list to help balance work and life I started thinking about another word: judgement.

When you work from home you have certain people who so not “get it”.

We really work! We work hard!

When I started working full time on my site and was making a monthly income I started sending my youngest to preschool. I really contemplated over this! To my surprise it was great for us both! For a few hours a day I could focus on my work and he could play and learn! Then i could spend the rest of the day making it all about him. People would say things to me and i knew they were judging me. It seemed like they thought I was sitting at home playing all day and made someone else watch my child.

Oh the guilt! Why are we so hard on each other? A mom working outside the home would not be made to feel this way! People would know she was doing what she had to. Of corse she could not have her child at work with her.

I work hard to make time for my friends but I can not get out as much as other stay at home moms. I have work hours–I have blocked in work hours. I have meetings, deadlines and daily tasks that must be attended too. Some people will never understand how we do what we do or why we do what we do.

But as a work at home mom we must remember that we are amazing! We have found  a way to pursue our passions and career while also have flexible and quality time with our kids. That may mean that friends come further down on the list. Or maybe you need new friends who respect what you do.

As I said in the article about finding balance, we have to make priorities. Is what others think about you important? Are your friends important? Do you need to make time each week that is just for nourishing those relationships? If so then do that! Start it now! If those people are bringing you down and will never understand… Then let it go!

Be ok with what you are doing. Be PROUD of what you are doing! Don’t let the harsh words of others make you feel like less of a mom because you are doing it all!

Judge less! Love more! Keep up the awesome work of being a mom who does it all!

Sun, Sand & Snapple Sweet Tea = The Perfect Summer Day #shop #SnapTea

To enjoy a relaxing summer day and as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® I enjoyed the sun, sand and Snapple sweet tea this weekend. This is a sponsored post but all of the opinions are 100% mine.

It’s hot in Texas! We are lucky enough to live near a beach and we LOVE the beach! So we go as often as possible. This weekend was no exception. The high on Saturday was 108 and we knew we had to be in the water to enjoy this day! I always try to plan something different each time we go to keep it exciting. This time I decided to plan for a picnic on the beach. I really wanted this to be easy, fun and cheap! Taking a lunch is always the cheapest way to go but not always the easiest.

When we got to Galveston we stopped by our favorite Wal-Mart. The Wal-Mart on the seawall is like none other. It has such a beach and summer feel to it. We grabbed a few lunchables, chips and headed to the drink aisle. That is when I discovered Snapple Snap Tea. Have you heard of this? It was new to me and stopped me in my tracks. They had a gallon sized container in diet and regular and it was less than $3! That is when a light bulb went off and I knew that we had to enjoy sweet tea on the beach! See my full shopping trip to go behind the scenes.

We spent hours in the sun and then decided it was time for lunch. Our beach picnic was amazing! My husband picked up some ice for us and I had red solo cups. They were perfect for the sweet tea!

We enjoyed lunch full of laughs and yummy treats.

My kids were thrilled I choose sweet tea as the drink. It really hit the spot!

It was super easy on me to just have the one container to carry and refill when they wanted more.

Perfect Summer Drink

The taste was perfect! It had a hint of lemon and sweetness that was not overwhelming but was just right.

When they had finished lunch they were ready for more time in the waves and searching for sea shells.

I sat back with my magazine and sweet tea and enjoyed the view.

Life doesn’t get any better than that!

We had the best day! It was really what I needed to recharge my battery. Time in the sun and sand with my kids and sweet tea was the recipe for the perfect day!20130703-104351.jpg

If you decide to spend a day in the sun you simply must try this refreshing Snap Tea by Snapple. There is a Snapple coupon you should use to save even more. It runs from 5/24 through 9/30. While you are printing it out check out the photo contest.
