Welcome to my 30 day Weight Loss Bible Study. I will talk about what the bible says about body image, weight, healthy living, addictions, and the flesh.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:14
We are all under construction. I feel like I am never really THERE. You know, the place where I am happy with me, my circumstances, my choices, my habits. I think this life is a journey. Each step should lead us to where we want to be. Some steps take us away and we have to take the winding road back to where we should be.
I remember when our house was vandalized. Someone turned on the water faucet where the refrigerator goes and it flooded our house. We spent a summer in a hotel while our house was under construction. It was not safe for us to be here while it was under construction. The walls had been destroyed by water and there was mold growing. I think about the steps they had to take before they could fix the problem and make it good again.
They had to take it apart. They took up all the floor that was damaged. They took out everything from the kitchen, the dining room, and utility room. The cabinets, the baseboards, everything.
Then the walls that were damaged had to be taken down to the studs. The moldy or potentially moldy parts of the walls were cut out.
They they had to dry it out. Fans and special equipment were brought in to preserve the rest of the walls, while destroying any mold in the wetter areas. This went on for days.
After they had eliminated all the bad and preserved the good they were able to start rebuilding. Slowly, piece by piece they rebuilt the walls, cabinets, and installed new flooring. The end result was a safe and beautiful new kitchen!
This is just like our lives. Even if the smallest drop of sin has made it’s way into our bodies or lives, we have to take it all apart. We have to completley remove the sin or thing causing the damage and remove the damaged parts. We have to tear it all down in some cases. Once we get to the root of the problem, and ONLY then, can we start rebuilding and making it new again.
Once all the walls have been torn down. Once all the stuff is removed. Once we are free from the sin causing the damage. THEN we can rebuild our bodies and lives, not like they were before, but better!
And just like that new kitchen where we can choose the new colors and types of cabinets, we can choose what we allow back into our new lives.
The hardest part is the tearing down and getting to the root of the problem. Drying out all the water that is causing our damage. It has to come out before we can move forward.
During the next 30 day I am going to take you on a Weight Loss Bible Study with me. We will get to the root of the problem that leads to food addiction, obsessions, poor body image, the need for acceptance, and feeling like you are not enough. We will find out what God has to say about all of those things. As we learn what he thinks of us and expects from us, we can start to rebuild our lives. We can learn to love ourselves, our bodies, and learn how to have healthy habits.
He wants us to know that we are loved just the way we are. He wants the best for us. We can only accept that love when we start to love. That starts with you. It starts with me!
I hope you will join me in this Weight Loss Bible Study. Share your thoughts and feelings on the scriptures and my views each day. We can do this together!
